On August 6th, 2014, the Rosetta probe entered the orbit of Comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko. On November 12th, 2014, Rosetta’s lander, Philae, landed on the comet’s surface to study its chemical composition. The landing took place at 17:34 Kyiv time. This was the first time humanity touched the surface of a comet. This is the very same comet that was discovered by the University’s Prof. Klim Churyumov and his colleague Svitlana Gerasymenko.
